Ritual & Art Practice
In 2022, we were invited by scholars from Australian Catholic University to participate in a project about ritual and creative practice funded by the Templeton Religion Trust. The project investigates artistic process wherein ritual activities enable one to attune more consciously to the boundaries between the sensing body and the more than human world. Depending on belief systems, this may include conscious and unconscious states, ancestors and gods, and/or mortal beings and otherwise.
We were one of a group artists who were asked to engage with scholars about our creative practice. This involved conversations, workshops, an academic publication and included a series of short films made by videographer Mark Newbound about each artists work.
